Description:
You can study pretty much anything at Gloucestershire College, one of the UK’s biggest further education colleges. Some of its main facilities have been revamped recently, including its Gloucester campus training kitchen, right in the heart of a city undergoing major redevelopment itself.
When the college asked Space to redesign the training kitchen, the challenge was to fit 10 training modules and a suite for the teacher into the room for students to train at. A reduced height counter for special needs students was also needed.
The kit of choice was Falcon cooking equipment for the main cooking ranges, Britannia for ventilation and Moffat for fabrication. Space also installed electric hobs and ovens in lower height work stations for special needs students to improve their skills before moving to the main training area. The whole scheme is a sea of restful blue and cream, offset by stainless steel.
"We are extremely happy with Space’s work and with the excellent new training resources for our students to learn in and teachers to teach in. This was an ambitious new-build scheme, involving numerous parties and requiring close co-ordination throughout. Space were hands-on and gave us superb new facilities. we continue to work with them as our partners on other projects."
